Benefits of Pulsed-Light Hair Removal

Long-Lasting Results

Pulsed-light systems work by emitting pulses of intense lamp light into the hair follicles. The light is absorbed by the pigment in the follicles and converted to heat. The heat then loosens the hair and disables the cells responsible for growing new hair.

The Palomar EsteLux™ Family of Systems features multiple hand pieces for a variety of treatment options, such as permanent hair reduction on all skin types. Ask your treatment provider what results you can expect.

Comfortable Hair Management

Traditional waxing and threading treatments, which essentially rip the hair from the skin, can be quite painful. Most people, however, find EsteLux treatments to be significantly more comfortable. In addition, since the pulses of light penetrate the skin, you do not need to let your hair grow out before you are treated. With EsteLux treatments, you can remain virtually hair-free all the time!

Super-Fast Treatments

Thanks to its advanced, technology, the EsteLux Family of Systems works several times faster than other light-based hair removal systems. A woman's legs or a man's back can be treated in under thirty minutes, and smaller areas - such as the underarms, upper lip or bikini line - can be treated in even less time!

Frequently Asked Questions

What Body Areas Can I Get Treated?

  • Any area, except around the eyes. The underarms, legs, back, bikini line, face, neck, etc., can all be treated… fast!

What Are the Treatment Sessions Like?

  • Quick and easy! After your initial preparation, your treatment provider will move a wand-like hand-piece over your skin. The hand-piece emits a light that disables the hair follicles. Most people perceive the light as a gentle "snapping" sensation. Once this is completed, the treatment provider will wipe away any loose hair; from your skin, and you're ready to go.

What Should Most People Expect After Treatment?

  • Most people experience some mild redness and tenderness in the treated area shortly after treatment. This does not interfere with normal activities and usually subsides within a day. In some cases, the redness may last longer, but will still be mild and temporary. Your treatment provider will explain other, less likely side effects to you.

What Is the Difference Between Laser and Pulsed-Light Treatments?

  • Pulsed-light systems and lasers are very similar and remove hair in basically the same way. However, the Palomar EsteLux Systems use a new technology that removes hair up to ten times faster than lasers. EsteLux pulsed-light treatments can fit even the busiest person's schedule.

How Has Unwanted Hair Usually Been Removed?

  • Shaving is a simple procedure… but it's also messy and time consuming. (And who needs nicks and cuts?) Shaving is a very short-lasting solution, one that requires a constant commitment.

  • Ouch! This quick-fix is not only painful… it's highly impractical for large areas! And, if you've ever tweezed, you know that the hair you pluck will only grow back again.

  • Another short-lasting solution. This messy procedure requires a significant time commitment and must be repeated about once a week. Caution: If depilatories are left on too long, they can cause severe skin irritation or even chemical burns.

  • Waxing can cover large skin areas and may last for a month or so. Yet this procedure is painful, can irritate sensitive skin, and can only treat hair after it becomes visible above the skin.

  • This procedure involves sticking a needle into each hair follicle and applying an electric current. In expert hands, electrolysis can successfully eliminate hair. But because you can treat only one hair follicle at a time, it's tedious and time-consuming.
