Skin Care Services in Fort Lauderdale

As we age, our skin goes through many predictable changes. Cosmetics, diet and exposure to the elements can all hasten the aging process. However, a number of effective, non-invasive solutions are now available to help restore our skin to a more youthful appearance.

One of the greatest success stories in recent skin therapy, Botox offers men and women the opportunity to smooth upper facial lines. It can safely relax facial muscles, particularly around the eyes and forehead, softening the appearance of brow furrows, frown lines, and common wrinkles.

What is Restylane? Restylane is a safe and natural cosmetic dermal filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds. What is Restalyne made of? Restalyne is the first and only cosmetic dermal filler made of non-animal based hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that already exists in the human body and is used to provide volume and fullness to the skin. How is Restalyne different from the bovine collagen? Restylane is proven to deliver a longer-lasting effect than traditional collagen, with virtually no risk of animal-based disease transmission or allergic reaction. In addition, bovine collagen is derived from animals (cow) and requires an allergy test. Because Restylane is non-animal-based, it can be administered without pretesting, so no waiting is required.

This procedure stimulates our skin to heal itself, reversing a great deal of the damage that the environment has done over the years. Over a series of treatments, some of the skin’s upper layers are removed, revealing a younger, smoother complexion.

Glycolic Peels

This therapy can reduce the dull, sallow look that can affect the skin, improve its clarity and brightness, and produce a more evenly toned complexion. For more than a decade, glycolic peels have proven effective and safe for hundreds of thousands of people, reducing sun damage and fine wrinkles.

Collagen injections are a time-tested, effective means to reduce and even eliminate fine lines and wrinkles for many months. However, some individuals can be allergic to collagen, so a test dosage must be administered before treatment.

Chemical Peels

Sun damaged, unevenly pigmented, and finely wrinkled facial areas can be effectively treated with chemicals that are specially formulated to remove the skin’s upper layers. While the particular ingredients and strength may vary, all are designed to diminish imperfections, promote skin renewal and bring out a younger, brighter complexion.

Enzymatic Peels

Pumpkin exfoliating therapy is designed to improve the complexion and skin tone. It’s a light, gentle peel that’s ideal for all skin types and will leave your skin looking and feeling considerably tighter and firmer. The papaya peel is recommended for those with either oily or combination complexions, aiding in the reduction of blemishes and diminishing fine lines and wrinkles.

Common Prescription Skin Care

Renova skin care is used to improve the appearance of the skin by reducing fine lines and wrinkles, and to improve skin tone. Renova is for use on the face regularly once a day at bedtime. Apply a small amount after cleansing to dry skin, avoiding the eyes, nostrils and mouth. Do not use Renova more frequently than approved or in great amounts. You may experience mild irritation or stinging, itching, burning, skin scaling, peeling and dry skin in the first several weeks as your skin adjusts. If any of these effects become severe, discontinue use and contact your plastic surgeon. Use of sunscreen and sun shielding clothing is necessary when outdoors to keep sun exposure to a minimum when using this product.

Melanex: Age spots, sun spots, liver spots, on the face, hands, and neck are caused by hyperpigmentation. A commonly prescribed solution for this problem is Melanex or a Hydroquinone type product. Recommended application of Melanex is a small amount to the area of pigmentation once a day for several days. If the area is not irritated (red, sore, etc) you may increase the applications to twice to three times a day and application to a larger area may be started. Fading of the pigmented area may take 2-4 months. Again care should be taken to avoid direct exposure to the sun.
